Tabitha Bulgaria Foundation regularly organizes volunteers’ groups helping the orphanages we support. The first group of 25 volunteers we received was from Putten (NL) to the orphanage in Roman was in 2000. It was a scary attempt because the temperature was over 40 degrees; the orphanage had just one WC and bathroom, big dormitories and broken beds. Since then we have had groups of volunteers to Roman organized by “Help Tabitha” from Putten every summer. They turned the institution into a real home, struck long lasting relationships with the kids and helped many of them have a better life.

Since 2008 we have also had a group of volunteers from Werkgroep Bulgarije in Wijk & Aalburg every year. They turned the orphanage in small group apartments with living rooms, kitchenettes, WC and showers and bedrooms for 2-3 kids. Every summer the volunteers from Wijk & Aalburg peronnaly painted the renovated parts and did the final touches of the renovations, played with the kids and made their life happy.

Tabitha has had many volunteers in the last 16-17 years, helping with painting, art, improving living conditions, Bible studies, taking the kids to swimming pool and mainly giving them attention and affection. Some came for a short time, others stayed for months but their support did a lot of good to the underprivileged children and old people.
